1. Will my free Searchmetrics account automatically upgrade into a paid subscription?

No. You can use the free Searchmetrics Essentials account for as long as you like and we will not upgrade the account unless you make this request. The free version does not have all the functions of the paid Essentials version and there is no trial version for the Essentials Pro. For more information, please take a look at point 3. 2. How long will my free Searchmetrics account last?

Great news – your free version will be active indefinitely! The single restriction is that the software shows only a limited amount of data to free accounts. You may choose to upgrade your free account in the Searchmetrics Shop at any time for full access to our research data. Login to your Shop Account

3. What are the restrictions of my free Searchmetrics account?

With your free account, you can look up the SEO Visibility and Social Visibility of one domain at a time. You also have limited views of KPIs such as organic, paid and universal keyword results and competitors. An upgrade is necessary to view all keyword results, subdomains, industry categories, SERP spread, keyword winners and losers, social spread and have access to reporting, exporting and side-by-side site comparison.

4. Why must I login to the shop once again if I want to upgrade?

This is for security reasons. Each customer’s individual email and password helps us to verify upgrade requests.

5. How can I upgrade my free account to a full product?

Log in at the online shop with your user data. Login to your Shop Account In the product selection you can see the products that are currently available for online purchase. Once you have selected a software product, you can specify it: the duration of the contract period, the billing interval and any additional extras. Depending on how you adjust your software license, the aggregation changes in the adjacent shopping cart. If available, you can also redeem a discount code there. When you’re done, you click on the red “Proceed to Checkout” button. On the next page we ask you to complete the details to your billing address. We also ask you how you want to pay in the next step so that we can prepare our Worldpay payment service for your visit. If you completed the mandatory information and have accepted our terms and conditions, you click on the red “Place cost-incurring order” button to submit your order. The online shop will transfer you via a secure connection to our payment service WorldPay. There, you complete the payment of your order. After receiving the payment, the service redirects you back to the online shop where you see an order and payment confirmation. Your new user rights are immediately activated in the software. It may be necessary to login to the software again to update your license. The order confirmation and invoice will be sent to you by email.

6. What kind of contract is it, when I buy one of the software products online?

It is a kind of subscription that can be canceled depending on the duration of the contract. It is automatically renewed for an additional contract period, if not previously cancelled by you.

7. For what / How long do US$ 69 apply regarding the new Essentials?

All prices that are advertised – including this one – apply for a period of one month. We communicate the prices like this because the products are billed at least monthly. For longer-term contracts and higher billing intervals we offer various discounts. These are advertised online. For example, if you decide to pay the Essentials or the Essentials Pro on a yearly basis you get the 12 months for the price of 10!

8. Which software products can I buy online?

Right now the online shop offers the Searchmetrics Essentials and the Essentials Pro. If you are interested in the other Searchmetrics Suite Business, Enterprise or Ultimate, please get in touch with us. We’ll make you an appropriate offer.

9. How long is the subscription period?

We offer different contract periods depending on the product. The contract period indicates when the subscription is automatically renewed or until when it can be terminated. For the Essentials and Essentials Pro you have the choice between 1 month and 12 months. 1 month means you pay the monthly fee at the beginning of the monthly period in advance and you can terminate the contract each month. To thank you for your long-term trust, while buying a 12 month license we give you the discount of 2 free months. 12 months means you pay the price for 10 months at the beginning of the 12-month period in advance and you can terminate annually. A contract period always begins on the day of a month when you start your contract, and it runs until the day before the same date in the next month or in the next year, depending on the contract period. For example, from Feb. 19,.2015 to Feb. 18, 2016.

10. When do I pay?

You can always pay by credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. For customers with a bank account in Germany, we also offer the option to pay by direct debit.For the Essentials and the Essentials Pro the payment interval depends on the chosen contract period. If you use the monthly period, you get an invoice and your payment method is charged with the cost of one month at the beginning of the monthly period. In the annual contract you will receive an invoice and your payment method is charged with the cost of one year at the beginning of the year.

11. How can I pay?

You can always pay by credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. For customers with a bank account in Germany, we also offer the option to pay by direct debit. Under certain conditions, we also allow for a payment by invoice. Speak to us.

12. Can I pay the software on account?

Unfortunately that is not possible.

13. Where can I find my invoices?

Invoices are automatically sent to you by email. If you have not received an invoice in your inbox, please also check the SPAM folder of your email account. Furthermore, all the bills are in your online shop account. Stored at “My Orders” you can download them as PDF files. Login in to your Shop Account.

14. How does the login work?

To login for the software and to login in to your Shop Account you only need to enter the registered email address and password.

15. I forgot my password! What should I do?

Next to the login for the software and the login for your Shop Account you can find a link to the “Forgot Password” function. From there you can request an email with a link to reset your password. If you should still have problems logging in, please write us an email to shop@searchmetrics.com.

16. How can I change my software license?

Login using your registered email address and your password. The overview page of your account displays the currently booked products in your license.

From here you can go to the product selection to change your license. Select another product. Any change of the license is made clear in the adjacent shopping cart. Upgrades are always effective immediately and downgrades take effect from the beginning of the next contract period. In case of an upgrade, for example, the shopping cart calculates the price you pay now depending on the remaining days of the currently running contract period and the full price for future periods.

If you have made a decision, you click on the red “Proceed to Checkout” button. On the following page, your billing address will be already filled with the most recently used address. In addition, your last payment information is presented in a masked form, if the proposed changes require a payment. You can also provide a new billing address and new payment information at this point. If you completed the mandatory information and have accepted our terms, you click on the red “Place cost-incurring order” button to submit your change request.

If you wanted to change your payment method, the online shop will transfer you via a secure connection to our payment service WorldPay. There, you complete the payment of the order. After receiving the payment, the service redirects you to the online shop where you will see a confirmation of the order and the payment. If you however reuse the payment information that we already know from you, you will immediately reach the confirmation page after a short processing time.

If you upgrade the associated rights are immediately activated in the software. You may have to login again in the software in order to update the rights in your browser cache. The order confirmation and invoice will be sent to you by email.

17. How can I change my personal information?

Login using your registered email address and your password. On the account page “Personal Data” you can change your name, address, email address and bank details . A change of the login data always requires the input of the old/current password.

18. Can invoices also be sent to a different email address?

Yes, that is possible. Login using your registered email address and your password. On the account page “Personal Data” you can save an additional recipient in the “additional e-mail address for copies of invoices / credit” field. Invoices are then sent to both addresses, the registered email address as well as the extra recipient.

19. How do I change my payment information?

Once you have logged in here https://shop.searchmetrics.com/en/customer/account/login/, you have to go to the page named “My Payment” (please see screenshot “Payment”). The account page “My Payment” displays your currently used payment information in a masked form, for example MasterCard ************ 4231. You can start the process to change your payment information here.

When you click on the button “Change Payment” below the checkout page will show a product named “payment change” for € 1 or $ 1 in the shopping basket. Please go on and choose the payment method that you want to use in the future. After clicking on the button “place cost-incurring order” you will be redirected to the WorldPay payment pages as you know them from the regular purchasing process. There you can complete the required fields with your new payment information. After clicking on the button “make payment” your new payment method will be charged € 1 or $ 1 and you will be redirected back to the corresponding order confirmation page at shop.searchmetrics.com. After completion of this payment Searchmetrics has a new reference code to send to WorldPay for future payments which will use your new payment information.

Of course we do not really want to charge you for changing the payment information! After the completion of the payment change order your account overview page will inform you that your account has a deposit of € 1 or $ 1. This deposit will automatically be deducted from your next payment, either a recurring or an upgrade payment.

20. Why was my payment declined?

The most common reason is that your payment information has been entered incorrectly or is no longer valid. If payment has not been accepted in the ordering process, you can start a new order process immediately. Orders that are incomplete are canceled automatically after 6 hours. If payment for an automatic subscription renewal is denied, you will receive an email for your information. This includes a link to the shop. So you have the opportunity to renew your order and deposit new valid payment information with WorldPay within the next 3 days. After 3 days, the subscription is canceled by Searchmetrics, and your software license is canceled. Of course you have at any time the opportunity to complete a new subscription order.

21. How can I cancel a subscription?

You can cancel a service (individual extras or the whole product) at any time via the Shop Account. If you no longer want to use certain extras you login at the shop and go to the “Product Selection”. There you adapt your license to your needs. When you want to cancel the entire Searchmetrics subscription, you can do this using the menu item “cancellation”. After expiry of the current subscription contract period the services will be shut off. By termination your account has then the right to use the free trial version of the Searchmetrics software. If needed again, you can upgrade your license at any time.

22. Which countries can I select for the Essentials or the Essentials Pro?

For the Essentials you can choose three, for the Essentials pro even six countries out of currently 27. The list will steadily grow. Right now the following countries are included: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Great Britain, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Singapore, Spain, South Africa, Turkey, USA.

23. What are SEO, PPC and Social Visibility?

SEO and PPC Visibility indicate how ‘visible’ a website is according to Google. This means, the frequency and manner in which this domain appears in organic search results and sponsored ads. Searchmetrics determines SEO and PPC Visibility by sorting through millions of keywords from Google’s index. The most important factor is the number of search terms for which a particular site appears in search results. This figure is then weighted with the number of search queries for these keywords and the achieved rankings.

For example: An online shop that appears in the top rankings for many products and brand names that are frequently searched by users is very ‘visible’. On the other hand, a company that offers specific solutions or services would normally rank with fewer search terms that are also searched for less frequently and would, therefore, be less ‘visible’. For such cases, it is particularly useful to create a project in the Suite, to determine the visibility in a specific market.

Social Visibility indicates how ‘visible’ a website is on social networks. It means the type and frequency of appearances for this domain in social media. To assess Social Visibility, Searchmetrics searches Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn and Pinterest for URLs. The most important factor in this assessment is the number of mentions for a particular site. This figure is then weighted against the number and type of mentions (shares, likes, comments, etc.).
